6/5/09 -- Formula BMW Testing Review By: Sage Karam Racing NAZARETH, PA - (June 5th, 2009) -- Sage Karam capped off a fantastic day of Formula BMW testing with Andersen Racing this past Thursday. To nobody’s surprise, Sage was quickly up to speed and posted the usual consistently he has been noted for. Karam totaled 214 miles of testing in dry and semi-wet conditions. It was his first experience in the Formula BMW machine. “I couldn’t believe that amount of grip in the BMW. I topped out at 137 mph on the straight, which was my personal best for a top speed. The Andersen racing prepped Oso*Fresh formula BMW performed amazingly throughout the day. Andersen Racing did a great job”, Sage explained. Andersen Racing brought in Yvan Turcotte, a French Canadian based out of Montreal, to maximize Sage’s test. “Yvan and my mechanic Claudio (Indy Lights Team Andersen) and I hit it off great. I learned a lot about the BMW chassis’ dynamics and capabilities. My driving coach, Gerardo Bonilla, was on-site to help me through the test. “Gerardo understands what I need to go fast. Things couldn’t have gone any better”, Karam remarked. “I am thankful that my manager, Michael Fux arranged the opportunity”. Currently 14 years-old, Karam could be eligible to compete in the Formula BMW series next season. Karam will compete June 13th and 14th at the New Jersey Motorsports Park in the Skip Barber National series. Karam is the Mazda Motorsports Developmental driver and the youngest winner of the Skip Barber Shootout scholarship. He is also the holder of more World Karting Association and Stars of Karting National titles than any other driver.
