4/27/09 -- Karam Grabs Top 10 in Second Skip Barber National Event (VIR Report) By: Walters Web Design DANVILLE, VA - (April 27th, 2009) -- Young American open-wheel sensation, Sage Karam, drove the Oso*Fresh Formula RT to his first Top 10 finish in the ultra competitive Skip Barber National Series. It is only Karam’s second National race weekend. Even with little experience, unsurprisingly, Karam ended the weekend ahead of many of his elder and seasoned competitors. Karam’s progression is steady and he is already showing the spurts of greatness, he enjoyed in karts. On Thursday’s practice, Sage was the 2nd fastest on the day, catching the attention of many in the paddock. VIR is a challenging track that Karam has never seen before. “Many of these guys have been here before, so, I was surprised to get up to speed so quickly”, replied Sage. “I made some poor decisions during the qualifying sessions and especially during race #1. But, I learned and won’t make those same mistakes again”. Race #1 on Saturday was exciting, but the 14-year old’s youth prompted an aggressive move for 4th place in turn-one, that landed him off the track. Karam was forced to join the group at the end of the pack but still managed to pick off four cars before ending. Sage was forced to start Sunday’s race #2 in 17th place. He methodically passed an average of 1.5 cars per lap to finish in a respectable 10th place. “Well, things could have gone better, I know. I’m frustrated and angry at myself for making the mistakes. I can’t wait to get to New Jersey to race again. My goal is to get on the podium very soon. I’d like to thank Oso*Fresh for being patient and allowing me to live my dream”.
