9/16/09 -- Sage Karam Norman, OK Rotax National Championships Preview

Written By: Sage Karam Racing

Norman, OK - (September 16th, 2009) -- The kid is busy! Sage spent the entire Sept 11 - 13 weekend testing in Norman, Oklahoma at the Oklahoma Motorsports Complex in preparation for the 2009 Rotax Grand National Championships. Sage returned home to Nazareth, PA on Sunday (9/13) to catch up on some academic studies until Tuesday. He jumped on a plane and departed today (Tuesday, 9/15) for the actual Rotax Championship event.

The national finals will be conducted on Saturday. The first three finishers will receive an invitation to the 2009 World Rotax Championships, to be held in the country of Egypt! Immediately following the finals, Sage will depart to Atlanta, Georgia to participate in the Petit LeMans weekend that is hosting the Skip Barber National championship. He will return on Friday evening following the Skip Barber finals.

“My schedule is busy, but, being a friend of the Andretti’s, I see the travel obligations and sacrifices that you have, when you are a racer. It is good preparation for the life I want to live someday. I really want to qualify for Egypt as the United States’ representative in the Rotax World Championships and travel overseas,” said Sage.

Karam approached the karting scene in 2009 as a means of staying sharp for the formula race car events. “Once I returned to karting, I immediately wanted to win. Any thoughts of just performing without victory, quickly changed once I showed up at the track. My team (MRP Motorsports) is very dedicated to winning. I’ve only raced three serious Rotax races in my life, but Chris and Tim (Lobaugh) got me up to speed quickly. Even though this is my first Rotax national, I believe I can win”.
