By: Karam Racing

SEBRING, FL - (December 30th, 2008) -- Sage captured the Grand Prize of an all-expense paid year in the prestigious Skip Barber Formula National Championship season for 2009 worth well over $53,000.

The Skip Barber Shootout was conducted at the legendary Sebring Speedway, over the past three days. At only 13 years old, Sage is the youngest driver to ever win the award and was selected amongst 52 other competitors from 7 different countries. Winning the Shootout is considered a major milestone and huge step on the professional racing ladder.

Sage was excited with the win and placed the win amongst his largest. “I am so happy that things went well. We’ve all worked very hard to capture the Shootout victory. I knew this would be a turning point in my career if I could win it. I also realize that if it weren’t for my background in karting, I wouldn’t be in this position today”.

Karam is the youngest winner to ever win a WKA Triple Crown. He is also the only driver to ever win the WKA Triple Crown and the Stars of Karting East, West and National Championships in the same year. “Winning today’s shootout was even more difficult than winning the Triple Crown. The pressure and tension on the today’s grid was intense”. Karam did not place a wheel wrong all day and secured his chance of victory with his fast lap and consistency.

“I really wanted to race in the Skip Barber Series last year but couldn’t because I was too short. I am already looking forward to the National series and can’t wait to get started. I’d like to thank the Skip Barber instructors, officials and mechanics that went out of their way to help me. I learned a lot at the Shootout and it was a great experience”.
