His trip will pit him against 50 of the top karters representing 7 different countries. The winner will receive an entire paid season in the Skip Barber National Race Series. The event marks a major milestone, in making the giant step into the world of formula racing, for young professionals. “I’ve prepared to the best of my ability and I hope things go well”, replied Sage. Karam has been fast ever since he first jumped in a Skip Barber Formula car last year. He won the first 3 of 4 events. He was leading the fourth race (Mont Tremblant, Canada) when a gearbox gremlin ended his day. “I’ve been following a tough strength training and fitness program. I feel that I am in the best shape that I can be in at this pojnt”. At only 13 years-old, Sage is the youngest driver to take to the track next week in the Shootout. With only two Skip barber race weekends under his belt, he is amongst the least experienced as well. Karam already claims the title of being the youngest formula champion at the storied Road America track. “I owe a lot to karting. I know I wouldn’t be able to compete in cars, at this point, if it weren’t for karts”, added Sage. “I like the Skip Barber program. The instructors have taught me well and I am very comfortable driving their cars”.
