Race Report: Tooele, UT - Stars of Karting Written By: Karam Racing TOOELE, UT - (July 14th, 2007) -- Sage Karam bumped his National Title tally to 24 over the weekend by capturing the Stars of Karting Cadet National victory. Sage won the event on a last lap pass that is signature of his mature driving style. Sage had a lot to say about the weekend; “I knew I could pass my final opponent at several spots on the track. But, I waited for the proper timing to secure the win. My opponents are getting tougher to pass and are figuring my race plans out. The Fleming powered Birel Cadet chassis is unbelievable. I am satisfied with my performance, especially since many of my competitors were at the Miller Motorsports Park practicing in the weeks before. Sunday’s final was unfolding similar to Saturday’s. As Sage attempted to overtake an opponent, that he hasn’t had much experience with, the opponent cut down to follow through the line that Sage already occupied. Sage’s day was done several turns from the finish line while he was in the lead. It’s been almost a year since Sage last missed a cadet podium. “It’s a shame that my opponent tried an impossible move. I have his front tire marks on my new sidepod around the starter hole. This clearly shows that I was way passed him when he hit me, “ added Sage. Next on the schedule is the World Karting Association’s National Championships at BeaveRun, Pennsylvania. Karam will compete in the Yamaha, HPV and Comer classes. Sage would like the thank his sponsors and supporters: Michael Andretti, MRP, Gary, Chris and Tim Lobaugh, Brent Ebert, Rick, Doug Fleming, Grand Products, Noonan Pedal Risers, Bell Helmets, Aplinestars, Orwig Management, SmitHahn Co., L & T Clutches, Strober Building Supplies, and Walters Web Design.
